In private practice, Elissa works with clients who talk about having increased difficulty in coping with their daily lives for an array of reasons. Clients often say that they had been managing previously, but additional stressors have been more than they could cope with on their own resulting in a deterioration in their overall mental health.
People that Elissa works with may be new to psychotherapy or have some prior experience in a therapeutic space. Either way, Elissa works to build rapport and trust with clients to provide a platform for therapeutic aims to be worked towards.
Elissa prefers to work collaboratively with her clients, inviting clients to sit alongside her in the therapeutic process, and welcoming review and feedback to ensure treatment is meeting the expectations of those entrusting her with their care.
The length of an episode of care may vary from weeks to months, based on a client’s presenting difficulties and aims for treatment. This will be discussed over the course of the first 1-3 sessions as the scope of the work becomes clear, and a shared formulation and treatment plan emerges.
"Psychotherapy can be one of the greatest and most rewarding adventures, it can bring with it the deepest feelings of personal worth, of purpose and richness in living."
